New changes from PSLE Math Year 2021

From Year 2021, the PSLE will be scored with wider bands and the scores will reflect the student’s individual performance and not his performance relative to his peers. (Source Ref: https://www.moe.gov.sg/microsites/psle/PSLE%20Scoring/psle-scoring.html)

There is no more A or A*. Now we use AL (Achievement Level).

You can see that 50 marks does not mean a pass and blend with 45 to 64 marks to an AL6.

FYI: To get into express stream, a total score of AL 20 or fewer is required. The average of four subjects is 5.

Although Express and Normal streams would be phased out by 2024 and be replaced with the G1, G2 and G3 (G3 is known as express stream subject) subject bands, we encourage students to get AL5 based on average that is 65 marks now instead of 50 marks.

For foundation students, their best marks is still AL6.

Next is the change in PSLE Math Paper format.

The use of calculator is still only for Paper 2.

Problem solving is important and stands 45% of overall Math marks.
